REVIEW: Truth by S.J. Sylvis

Genre: Contemporary (Rock Star) Romance

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Steam Level: 🔥🔥🔥

An unlikely pair, mega rock star, Reid King and elementary school music teacher, Brooklyn are thrown together as a last-ditch effort to get Reid out of his funk and back to writing chart topping, record breaking songs. Reid is still reeling from a traumatic breakup and determined to find the truth behind the mysterious breakdown, then disappearance of his ex. And Brooklyn doesn’t exactly come baggage free herself. Her family is desperately trying to keep their heads above water, financially after seeing her sister through a terrifying medical ordeal. So when she hears that helping Reid King get back his rock star swagger could give her the money she needs to help alleviate her family’s financial burden, she puts all her self doubt and reservations aside and goes on tour with Reid and his band. The slow, slooooow burn of their romance and friendship lasts the remainder of the tour and beyond. But just when Brooklyn finally thinks she’s torn down all of Reid’s walls, the answers he’s been so desperately seeking threaten to build those walls right back up and push away the only real truth he’s ever known.

Oh, Sammi 💙💜 You somehow managed to make me laugh, swoon, break my heart, and put it back together all within these beautifully written pages. Reid’s tortured soul and Brooklyn’s selfless yet sassy nature made for a perfectly delightful slow burn contemporary romance that I raced to finish, yet never wanted to end. Reid & Brooklyn’s individual stories were complicated yet simple, and their dynamic together angsty one minute and awkward yet hilarious the next. I loved the unique take on the rock star romance. This story was anything but cut and dry or predictable. The secondary characters added depth and comic relief that perfectly rounded out this fun and addicting story.
